On September 20th, 2018 a Hurricane Maria a Category 5 system crashed into the NorthWest of Puerto Rico, disabling the island, inducing a complete infrastructure failure. A year later, the effects of the hurricane still exist on the island. The death toll was adjusted recently, on August 28, 2018, Governor Rosselló acknowledged the results of the George Washington University study and revised the island’s official death toll to 2,975 people. Rosselló described the effects of the hurricane as “unprecedented devastation”.

On Sunday the Carevel Foundation, a non for profit out of Jersey City, NJ is continuing the mission to restore normalcy back to the Island with their event “Sigue llamando…Sigamos respondiendo” (Keep Calling….Keep Responding) . “It’s a great cause and we need to keep providing supplies and resources to our fellow citizens on the Island.” said Dr. Anna Villafane, C.E.O of Carevel Foundation.

Event Is Sunday at 3pm at the Hard Grove Cafe, 286 1st St, Jersey City, NJ 07302, Tickets are $75, including live salsa bands, open bar and dinner.
